Betacam SX

Betacam SX was developed alongside Digital Betacam as a high end broadcast news and corporate format used where Digibeta was considered to expensive and unnecessary. It uses the same basic Beta tape mechanism (the tapes are yellow), but it encodes the video as a very high resolution Mpeg format. Most machines will play analogue Betacam SP tapes as well, and output the signal as SDi. The Sony JS range of playback machines will play this format.
