HD Screen

An HD (high definition) screen should be capable of displaying a picture resolution of 1900x1080 pixels which is true HD. However, a lot of consumer screens claim to be 'HD Ready', but the picture resolution stated as it's maximum is often far short of this, albeit considerably greater the the standard definition picture resolution of 720x576 pixels. Some screens are designed to 'blow up' the standard definition pictures it recieves to fit the HD screen resulting in terrible picture quality. A standard definition picture is correctly displayed on an HD screen if it appears as a small picture with a large black border around it.
